Another year over…

…and a new year just begun.

Happy New Year! I’m excited about the possibilities for 2022 and the plans (which do not necessarily coincide with the possibilities)!

First up—a new class! I learned of it Christmas Day and thought, “This is what I’ve been waiting for!” Sarah Vedeler is an amazing embroidery designer and digitizer. Julie at Hickory Hills Quilt Shop in Hot Springs showed me one of the blocks from the Sunshine Cove BOM and I was in total awe of the background quilting. Sarah Vedeler announced her 2022 Digitizing & Design Masterclass last week and I signed up. It’s a 10-month course and the first session starts January 12; registration closes January 10. NAYY

My hope is that this class will enable me to fulfill my goal of finishing up a specific UFO using machine embroidery designs I create for different blocks. I had this idea in mind last year when I purchased the Hatch digitizing program, but never devoted the time to delve into it and figure out how to make it all happen. I have experience with digitizing; I used PC-Designer with my Pfaff 7570, but took a very long break from embroidery until I purchased The Beast.

Other quilt goals for 2022:
  • In the UFO category, there are 6 quilts I want to finish. There are many more, but I’m going to pace myself. They are the All About the Face projects (3), 2016 Stitch & B!tch Sampler, the IMT Cabana quilt (started in 2005), and the Girl Gang DIY Quilt (the digitizing project);
  • At least one baby quilt for a boy scheduled to make his appearance in early February (I’m sure there will be more); and
  • Endless Summer, a quilt for our bed (the first one ever for our bed!).

That’s all that is planned. I anticipate the digitizing class will consume a lot of time while being mindful of the quilts I want to complete. I hope I do more!

Beyond quilting and sewing, we are anticipating buying or building our new home. We’ll know fairly soon which way we’ll go and I’ll share that info when the time is right.

We’re scheduled for another trip to Myrtle Beach in March and we are keeping our fingers crossed that we’re able to travel.

We’re also praying that we can see more of our family and friends.

That’s not asking for too much, is it?

Go make!
