April 2026 wrap-up

It was a good and busy month.
Hey, y'all! April flew by in a flash (but all months do in my world), and May will be filled with lots of happenings for my household. But first, let’s take a look at April:

Biggest things were meeting our new great-grandson and the trip to Pensacola Beach. Loved our time with both, but Hubs and I had time to talk while going to and from our destinations, and we agreed that we love being at home. Let's face it; quilts don't get made if we're traveling. Travel won’t cease; we have family and friends we love to see and that means travel. But Hubs’ thought was, “Why not turn our home into our own playland?” I agreed and that means adding some items and expanding spaces to accommodate those desires. Like my sewing space. We’ve agreed to switch out the two rooms I use; the spare bedroom that has all of my fabric, pending projects and cutting space will turn into my sewing room; the current sewing room will turn into storage for all the craft items. Computers may or may not move into the sewing space. That’s where they are now, and it’s cramped. Rearranging begins when school is out. We may close in our back patio to extend my sewing space, but that's down the road.

Antelope Canyon is a flimsy! I decided not to take apart the two errant blocks and as a result, the top is not perfectly square and I’ve decided it's done. The thought of ripping apart those blocks and restitching them wasn’t in the cards. I will trim off the offending parts and hand it off to Katrina for quilting.

And guess what? After completely un-quilting the Girl Gang DIY Sampler and starting the digitizing of the edge-to-edge design, I’m also handing it off to Katrina for quilting.

While traveling this month, Hubs finally said he wants his own travel dopp kit and I almost screamed with delight. I started one Monday and finished it Friday. This is a free tutorial from Bayhill Studio: Quilted Dopp Kit:

On Tuesday, our reincarnated Stitch & B!tch group met. No one worked on anything; we just gabbed, ate lunch, and had show and tell--I got to show my Antelope Canyon flimsy and told of the perils of having a squirrely brain while sewing a log cabin quilt. We discussed starting a quilt-along or a block swap. Next month I'll demo how to attach quilt binding with the serger using fusible thread in the lower looper.

What’s next? A UFO from 2009 that's been sitting in one of The Bins! I'll fill you in with the next post. In the meantime, go make!
