Finally Finished - the Girl Gang DIY Sampler Quilt!

I know, I can't believe it either!

I started the quilt in 2016; I think it became a flimsy in 2016 and it went on my longarm in 2017. Two moves and 10 years later, it's finally finished.

Everything I could tell you about it was disclosed in previous blog posts; just search for Girl Gang and they should come up for you. I smile every time I see it and the song immediately pops in my head--it's a happy song and it is now the name of the quilt: Let Me Tell You 'Bout the Birds and the Bees.

And God bless Katrina—she quilted this one for me along with the Antelope Canyon quilt, and I am so grateful. The label I made for this quilt way back in 2017 says it was made and quilted by me. The label was attached to the backing before it was quilted and can’t be removed—so I made a label addendum!

I think it's perfect for summer, but now that I've crept over to the bright side, I can see this one really shining in bright, colorful fabrics. Who knows;  maybe I'll make it again. Yeah, probably not. See some of the detail of Katrina's wonderful quilting:

But I'm thrilled it's now hanging in our foyer, thanks to the darling Hubs who installed the hanging system this morning. This quilt is the first of what I hope are many more that will be displayed in the years to come.

And speaking about hanging, I finally made a proper sleeve for this quilt. I used the instructions found at Minnesota Quilters, Inc.’s website and I will probably use this for all future hanging sleeves: https://mnquilt.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/HangingSleeve.pdf

Secret project is now on deck, but there will be some interruptions because the Mod Owls Revival class starts in September and there’s some prep involved. Here’s hoping I meet the deadline for the secret project (first week in October). Go make!
