What’s up?

This and that, and other stuff. Oh, and my mood, too!

The last class for the Mod Owls Revival quilt was a lot of fun and productive. I was surprised by how much I accomplished while visiting with my classmates—a lovely group. One classmate finished her top; I was piecing sections because I was still thinking about QAYG for finishing the quilt. A few days later and I’m rethinking that idea. I hope to finish piecing the top today. Another classmate decided the flying geese were not worth her time and she instead pieced braids for each of the flying geese sections--they're adorable! I have enough scraps to make a smaller version of this quilt and I'm thinking about her braids, but may do something else--I definitely won't be doing flying geese for it. While in class, our instructor told us the shop offers a 20% discount on their longarming service if you submit the top for quilting within 30 days of the last class, so I am thinking about doing that. I’m liking the idea of binding it with the background fabric, but that requires purchasing another yard of it. We'll see.

On Sunday I finished quilting the secret project and prepped the binding, and attached the binding with my serger on Monday. Now I’m removing the marks and will bury threads. I found out Monday afternoon that the honoree will be coming to see us when Kelsey’s clan comes in about 10 days, and I am thrilled knowing I'll get to hand it directly to her.

I’m ready to sandwich the Pumpkin Pie quilt and load it onto my Luminaire. I need to get to the binding, and I have enough leftover from the backing fabric to use it as the binding. I think it looks great with the quilt, but I can always change my mind.

Accuquilt has a Studio die sale happening right now (Coupon Code STUDIO50) that prompted me to purchase a few dies, and one of them will be for the baby quilt I need to start soon. I am guessing that sometime after they were acquired by a private equity group, they changed their inventory policy to not having the dies in stock and only manufacture them once they’re ordered. I have no timeline from Accuquilt telling me when they’ll be shipped, but hope they arrive before I have to start the baby quilt.

I know I overloaded myself with too many projects going at the same time. I have come to appreciate working on one thing until it’s finished, but a lot of the overloading had to go with self-imposed deadlines and thinking I can still do it all. I have spent a lot of time in the studios since the refresh and the euphoria from it is so good. Unfortunately, I have put off some things like housework chores, paperwork, doctor appointments, vehicle maintenance (yada yada yada) that keep giving me the side eye and today I started working my way through them. I’m still hoping to finish sewing down the binding to the back of the secret project by Thursday.

And yesterday, I won bobbin chicken!

The Hubs and I have been talking about adding more artwork to our walls. He wants more quilts on the wall (as do I), and I told him I’m working on quilts to hang as fast as I can, but we also like other artwork. Art and craft festivals are happening now in our area. We went to one Saturday and there was nothing there that grabbed me or Hubs. We’ll be heading to others as time allows.

What’s under your needle today? Go make!
